Old Fashioned Sick Remidies!!

Unfortunately my baby girl woke up after her nap this morning with a HORRIBLE cough!  We went to the doctor and discovered that she has a cold!! I hate that my poor girl isn't feeling well!!
Being 9 months old....there is nothing our Pediatrician will give her, so to help her mucous filled coughs I couldn't help but think of EVERYTHING possible so she can feel better fast!!!
When I was a little girl my mom always had some Crisco and Ground Mustard in the cabinet ready for our colds and flu!!!

So as my daughter is now crawling around playing....she has a "Mustard Plaster" attached to her onesie taking its course!

Mustard Plasters are known to help a few different things....even more than just a cold or the flu!!! Such things as.....back pain, or GOUT, sore muscles, and even arthritis!!! I find this pretty cool because lets be honest....after a good run....who wants to hold ice on their shin splints?!?!?! Just whip up a mustard plaster and put it on a nice big rag and wrap it around your shins!!! Problem solved!!!

Here is the recipe!!! SUPER SIMPLE!!!
2tbsp Ground Mustard
2tbsp Crisco
Mix well and spread on an old cut up t-shirt or rag, fold in half, pin to the inside of a tighter shirt.

This picture makes it look super gross but this is my baby mustard plaster!

Now this has never happened to me before, but other peoples recipes say that it can cause blisters so make sure that you continuously check for blisters because it does get very warm.  They also say to add a layer of Vaseline to your skin underneath the Mustard Plaster mixture.  It doesn't hurt to put Vaseline or check!!!

Here's to wishing you don't get sick!!!
