The Easy Peasy 3-layer bow (St. Patrick's Day)

Hey guys!! Just in time for St. Patrick's day, I decided to make this bow for my little princess!

What You Will Need:
*Scissors
*Hot glue gun
*rubber bands
*Elastic ribbon (for headband....clip if you're going to use a clip)
*3 pieces of 19inch ribbon 1-1 ½ inch wide....they can be the same color, I am using different colors and patterns
*8 inch piece of ribbon (it can be the same as one of the ribbons you are using or different)
*Felt (if you are using it)

First cut all of your pieces of ribbon to the desired size.  If you want a bigger bow than use longer pieces. I'd do 30 inch pieces.

Now take one of your 19 inch long pieces of ribbon and fold it as such....

Pinch the center.
Add Rubber Band

Fold all three to look the same

Then stack them on each other not directly on top of each other turn each just a little bit so you can see each bow and rubber band them all together!!

Then take your 8 inch ribbon and tie it in a knot.

Now you will need your hot glue gun.
Glue the knot of the ribbon to the middle of your bows
Then fold over each side and glue....cutting the excess ribbon like with yesterdays.

Pull out the ribbon so it fluffs up
It should look something like this

If you are making it into a headband get your elastic and glue the ends together
Then take your piece of felt and glue it to the headband where the ends come together.

Then glue your bow to the felt on the headband

TA DA! Your Easy Peasy 3 layered bow!!

If you are using a clip then do as we did yesterday.  You can either glue ribbon to the clip and then glue the bow on, or you can glue the bow right onto the clip....some people wrap the center knotted ribbon of the bow right around the clip and glue it to the clip.

HAPPY BOWING!!!

The easy peasy 'smaller' hair bow/hairband

Hey everyone!! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Friday!! Since everyone enjoyed the 'Girly Valentine's Headband' I decided to make a bow headband tutorial!!
Now since my little princess is only 9 months, and has next to no hair, I make everything right now into headbands....You can by all means make it into a clip!

What You Will Need:
*Scissors
*Rubber Band (or anything that is easy for you. Some people use jewelery wire.)
*Hot glue gun
*Elastic ribbon Measured to the size of the head (or your clip whichever you prefer)
*Felt if you'd like
*19 inch long piece of 1-1 1/2 inch wide ribbon (if you like bows bigger than make it 30 inches long)
*8 inch long piece of any size ribbon (*I am using small 1/4 of an inch sized ribbon)

First make sure all of your supplies are ready, and handy because you don't want to have to start over.  Cut your ribbon to the sizes you will need before you start and lay them out, you will not need your scissors again until your bow is finished so put them aside

Take your 19 inch long piece of ribbon and hold it under your thumb letting equal parts of ribbon fall to either side of your hand.

Then wrap the piece of ribbon twice, making sure the ribbon ends face opposite directions (up & Down)

Lay your ribbon flat on the table....or wherever you are doing it.  Make sure you put it down so the ribbon kind of creases....if you don't it will unwind and fall flat.

Pinch the center of the ribbon as it lay flat.

Wrap the rubber band around the center where you have pinched the ribbon *it isn't going to look perfect but don't worry, you'll have time to pull at it and fix it in a minute*

Pull the ends to the same side, pull the loops apart from each other so they make a bow

now take your 8 inch ribbon and tie it in a knot.

now is when you will need your scissors and your hot glue gun.

take the knotted piece of ribbon and glue the knot onto the center of the bow where your rubber band is.

wrap one of the sides around to the back and glue it.

Cut the extra ribbon from that side

Fold the other side over the back and glue it.

Cut the extra ribbon from that side.

Now your bow is finished!
For those who are making a headband grab your elastic and glue the ends together.

I always use a piece of felt between the headband and the ribbon or whatever it is I am putting on the headband.  I just don't like the flat on the head and headband look. If you are using felt then glue it onto the headband.

Now glue your bow onto the felt part of the headband or where you connected the ends.

And you have your headband and Easy Peasy 'smaller' bow!!
At this point you can leave the ends straight across or you can cut them on an angle or you can cut a 'V' into them.  After that to keep from fraying I just use a lighter very quickly over the ends to harden them.....They do make "Fray Check" and that will take care of the fraying ends too.

If you are using a clip, take the clip and clip it onto a piece of wax paper so you don't glue it together.  Put glue on the top of the clip and put the bow on it....some people cover the clip in ribbon to make it look nicer.  Some people even take the knot of the bow and instead of gluing it behind the bow, they glue it right to the clip.

HAPPY CRAFTING!!

**Check back tomorrow for the 3 layered Easy Peasy hair bow**

Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Girly Valentine's Headband

As morning nap time is happening, I have decided to get to making my daughter's Valentine's day headband.  This year is her first Valentine's day, but I didn't get her a "first Valentine's day" shirt, because I want her to be able to wear it more than on Valentine's day so we got this one!!

SO CUTE RIGHT?!?!?!?

Anyway, I usually make bows, bows and more bows, but this time I decided to go "outside the box" and swing a new look!!

What You Will Need:
*Hot Glue Gun
*Felt
*Elastic Ribbon
*Double Ruffle Ribbon (I actually used what Walmart calls "Ribbon Daisy" which is flowers made with ruffle ribbon)
*Scissors to cut the ribbon and felt

So First I drew a heart on the felt with a hot pink sharpie because the "Ribbon Daisy" color is hot pink.  Of course then I cut the heart out, but because I used white colored felt (that's all I had) I took the hot pink sharpie and colored in the heart.

Then I cut the ribbon and glued it on the heart, make sure you don't leave any gaps or it will look silly like this!
Glued together it looks pretty!!
After that I cut the Elastic Ribbon to fit my daughter's head.  (I just measured with one of her other headbands)

Then glue the ends of the elastic ribbon together to make the headband.

Cut a small piece of felt the width of the headband. (optional) I do this because I like it to stick out from the headband a little.

Glue that small piece of felt to the headband where you glued the headband together.

Then glue your heart onto the small piece of felt.

And ci si va your headband is finished!!!!

This headband has been the easiest I have made so far!!

Divertire!! (have fun!)
